TRADITIONAL PORK WITH CABBAGE RECIPE

 




Products:
1. 2 lbs. (1 kg) pork cut on pieces
2. 1 big fresh cabbage (approx. 2 lbs.), cut on thin stripes or 1 liter jar of sour cabbage
3. 1 table spoon of paprika powder
4. 1 tea spoon of black pepper
5. Salt, if you are using sour cabbage from a jar do not put salt
6. Spices - parsley/dill/oregano whatever is available
7. 1 big onion (white or yellow) cut on small cubes
8. 1 tomato cut on small cubes
9. 1 big carrot cut on small cubes
10. 2 table spoons of Oil
11. A cup of water


Tools:
Deep cooking pan for soup.

Procedure:
The cabbage needs to be slated well to a point where you can feel a thin layer of salt stuck on each cabbage leaf. Be careful not to put too much salt. If you are planning to use sour cabbage from a jar do not add salt.
Heat up the oil in the pan. Fry the pieces of meat with the onion and the carrots until the meat become evenly white, then add the cabbage, the water, the tomato, the paprika, the black pepper and the spices. Stir well during the cooking process. The cooking temperature should be low. Put a lid to cover the pan and steam the products.

The food is ready when the cabbage gets completely soft and orange.

If desired, you can place the food in the oven to broil it until a golden brown crust forms on the top.
